Sport and physical education play a key role in the life of the School and a wide variety of activities are provided for girls and boys. Rugby, soccer, cross country running, hockey, cricket, athletics, tennis, Eton fives, squash, volleyball, basketball, golf, shooting, judo and fencing are some of the sports available to boys.
For girls the choices include lacrosse, netball, tennis, squash, athletics, rounders, gymnastics, dance and swimming. Teams and individuals are entered into competitions in many of these events and have achieved notable success both locally and nationally. We have a particularly strong tradition in lacrosse, with girls regularly representing England.
The School has excellent sports facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool, playing fields covering over 40 acres, an athletics track, all-weather tennis courts and a well-equipped gymnasium. In 2004 the Knox-Johnston Sports Centre was opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, providing a large Sports Hall, 25 metre indoor swimming pool and fitness suite.
