Cricket Tour to Barbados

Our U18 and U16 cricket squads and 4 staff travelled to Barbados over Easter to play 4 games, each against local club and school opposition. The senior team won 3 out of their 4 games. Their only loss was in a thrilling match versus Queens College on the penultimate ball. Our victories included a fairly easy 9 wicket victory against St Giles Old Scholars and an outstanding, thrilling win in the last over versus the Isolation Cavaliers in a beautiful setting in the north of the island.

The U16s won 2 of their 4 games, having to cope with some express bowling along the way! Some talent for the future was identified with Ned Kilgannon captaining and playing an important role until an unfortunate injury ruled him out in match 2.

The group managed to squeeze in some wonderful sightseeing and cultural experiences whilst overseas including swimming with turtles on our catamaran cruise; an island jeep safari; a visit to the famous Oistins Friday night fish fry and an evening at the Harbour Lights nightspot.

Our fantasy league competition proved to be a successful source of rivalry between and within the teams. Many thanks to Mr Jones (chief stato) for his input. Thanks also go to the other members of staff, Mr Mahoney and Mr Foster and our travelling parental and family support , The Berko Barmy Army!

We return with much anticipation for the snowy start to our domestic season.
