2005 Cricket
U14A Season

At times this has been a difficult season with its fair share of ups and downs.  The positive aspects include an improved team spirit and a keen will to win.  Many players have improved their own development of individual skills and techniques over the course of the season.  However, on occasions, some players have fallen short on the commitment expected of an ‘A’ XI team member.

Inevitably some players deserve a special mention for their performances.  Jeremy O’Neill’s commitment, captaincy and work behind the stumps prove he is a real talent for the future.  Christian King has demonstrated better consistency with the bat, his 50 versus St. Alban’s was a highlight.  Giles Bidder continues to impress with the ball, 5 overs, 4 wickets for 19 runs versus Haberdashers’ Aske’s remains the best bowling performance of the season. William Jackson has shown that he has some potential with bat and ball, scoring invaluable runs against UCS early on in the season. I have also been impressed with the application and technical play of Lawrence Eaton and Andrew Joyce.

These boys now know what is required of them in order to improve on and off the cricket field.  I am sure that with a greater all-round commitment and an added consistency this squad will go from strength to strength in the seasons to come.
