Design Technology
Design and Technology is taught by five full time and two part time specialist staff. At Castle we have three teaching areas for work with Resistant Materials, Product Design, Food and Graphics plus a ‘Clean’ room. At Kings there are facilities for work in Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Product Design and Graphics. All the rooms are well equipped and ICT is integrated into the teaching of the subject.
Throughout Key Stage 3 both boys and girls follow the same type of course and enjoy work in food, graphics and resistant materials.
Design and Technology options are popular in the school and examination courses at GCSE include food, product design, graphics, and resistant materials. At GCE Advanced level courses are offered in graphics and resistant materials.
The department aims to become increasingly involved in local and national developments. Pupils from the school have taken part in technology problem-solving competitions hosted by the local Rotary Club, in which they have been very successful.
