Impressive GCSE results

GCSE pupils from Berkhamsted School have reason to celebrate with an impressive set of results that saw no fewer than one in five achieve at least 10 A*/A grades, and two in five achieve eight or more A*/A grades.

100% of pupils achieved at least five GCSE grades between A* and C, and 99% of the pupils achieved A* to C grades in five subjects that include English and Maths.

"I'm extremely pleased with these results and proud of each and every one of our students – they've worked tremendously hard and these results are well-deserved. Our outstanding team of teachers will be delighted that all their hard work and commitment to the students have been rewarded with these fantastic grades. It's a huge credit to both staff and pupils that 61% of examinations taken were passed at A* or A grade," says Mark Steed, Principal of Berkhamsted School.

"These results show that we are providing an outstanding academic education at every level of ability whilst remaining committed to wider opportunities outside the classroom in sport, music and drama, adventure activities and in service to the community."

Most of the pupils are going on to study at Berkhamsted School's Sixth Form, where they will choose to continue their studies in four of 25 A-Level subjects.

"We look forward to welcoming our students back to start their AS courses in the Berkhamsted Sixth Form, where this year we achieved a 100% pass rate at A-Level for the seventh year running, with a record 85% at A and B grade."

35 pupils achieved at least 10 A*/A grades and Guy Fountaine, Emilia Gyles, Sarah Hocking, Sophie Langridge and Alex Rattan achieved 11 A grades, 10 of which were A* grades. Alex Rattan also achieved an A in Additional Maths at AS Level, as did Archie Wood (11 A grades, 9 of which at A*).
