Athletics: Girls keep up strong performance in Herts League
Beth Highfield competing in the high jump event.

Girls' Athletics
The Junior and Intermediate Girls' Athletics squads have continued their consistently strong performances in the Herts League.

On Monday 24 May, Berkhamsted hosted the League fixture at Jarman Park, where five new school records were set! The Inter girls relay record was beaten for the third time this year, by the quartet of Isabelle Hartley, Jasmine Shekiluwa, Freya Burgess and Sarah McBean. This capped off a great meet for both Isabelle Hartley, who smashed her own school record in the 200m by 0.2 seconds, and Freya Burgess who also equalled the school record in the Long Jump.

Not to be outdone in the Junior age group, Emma Wood claimed two school records, in the long jump, where she improved her personal best by 22cm and in the 200m. Congratulations also to the following girls who won their events: Abbegail Winterburn, Anna Nicholls, Catherine Haigh, Chloe Allen, Beth Highfield, Georgina King, Freya Burgess, Isabelle Hartley, Jasmine Shekiluwa, Sarah McBean.

The Junior team are currently in 8th position in the League, while the Inter team are in joint first, with local rivals Haberdashers! With two League meetings to go, we look forward to some more outstanding individual and team performances. Well done to all girls who have taken part so far.

Anna Nicholls won the 1500m event.
