After a positive and successful tour of Barbados we expected to hit the ground running and make light work of a weakened QEB side. This was not to be. We won the toss and asked them to bat on a soft, well-grassed wicket. The early breakthrough didn't come and it was left to Pete Dunning at first change to grab two quick wickets. We bowled reasonably well without ever dominating and our fielding let us down at times. QEB finished with 145 off their 45overs, about 30 more than they should have scored. Our run chase never really got going with key players failing through a lack of concentration or poor shot selection. At 6 for 73 we looked in danger of being bowled out for less than 100. In walked Toby Phillips and Pete Dunning, both displayed the aptitude and concentration that is expected of a 1st team cricketer and they saw us home with scores of 43 and 28 n.o. respectively We have a big test against Haileybury this weekend and will need to improve.
