QE won the toss and elected to bat on a slow pitch. Charlie Richardson and Lewis Grimble bowled good opening spells and runs were hard to come by. Cameron Worboys gained a good runout in the 3rd over and Richardson bowled the other opener to have QE reeling at 4-2 after 5 overs. The QE no. 4 then proceeded to murder the bowling, hitting anything short or overpitched with great power. He made 62 of the first 100 runs, having been dropped off consecutive balls when on 2. We managed to drop 5 catches in 4 overs and missed 6 in total, thus making a game of it. Our fielding requires a lot of work.
Cameron Worboys, on debut, had the bizarre figures at the end of his first over of 2-10, the first 2 balls going for 4 & 6! He did dismiss the QE star and after that they struggled to 138 all out. Chris Morriss bowled a good spell and Worboys, Ned Kilgannon, Tom Baker and Lewis Grimble took 2 wickets apiece.
In pursuit we lost a couple of early wickets before a solid partnership between Chris Bright and Ollie Burgess (10) developed. After the fall of another wicket Bright and Ben Selwyn (22) put on the match winning partnership. Despite the loss of another couple of quick wickets, Chris Bright (79*) hit the winning runs (by 5 wickets) in the 32nd over. Lewis Grimble was 9* at the other end. This was the 2nd year in succession in which Chris Bright has scored over 60 to secure a win against QE.
