The season saw some new young faces appear on the golfing scene and some potential shown. We have played our annual match against The Old Berkhamstedians for The Neale Cup and sadly it remains in the safe custody of the OB’s. A strong side arrived at Berkhamsted Golf Club in March and despite some dogged resistance the match was lost 4-1. As usual a big thanks to Michael Atkins for his help in organising an enjoyable afternoon.
In the HMC Foursomes competition we made a much brighter start comprehensively beating Winchester at Berkhamsted. The next round saw us at Sandy Lodge to play Merchant Taylors. They had a very strong squad including an England school cap and the son of the professional at Sandy Lodge. Jack Sneddon and Jonathan Muir fought hard against tough opposition but eventually they went down. Unfortunately both of the second pair was unavailable due to a Daily Mail Rugby fixture and this was probably what turned the match against us. Chris Mach and Charles Holroyd both played well enough to suggest that we can be pretty competitive for the next few seasons. I thank all of the boys who have played this season.
