Although the statistics for the season were not that impressive, there were a number of positive features. The team batted a lot better, compared with previous 13B sides, managing 3 figure totals on 4 occasions. The team scored 140 runs against John Lyon and 132 against MTS, both in 30 over games. The best of the batsmen was Charlie Noakes, who scored 50 runs during the first game.
The team managed to survive the large number of away games: 9 out of 10. This may have been the secret of our only success, the game against Haileybury. Spend 2 hours on the coach, get lost twice on the way, arrive an hour late and rush on to the field without a warm-up. The team bowled out Haileybury for 29 (Duncan Capaldi 5 for 6 runs and Toby Sylvester 3 for 13 runs) and then went on to win by 6 wickets.
My thanks go to those boys who were reserves, to Ben Marsden who doubled up as a scorer and reserve and to those parents who supported us over the season.
